True Food Kitchen arrived in Dallas over three years ago and has since been happily serving health-obsessed folks tons of quinoa and kale. Now, the Phoenix-based chain, True Food Kitchen is opened in Plano’s Legacy West. No more will suburb residents have to brave the toll road to get a delicious plate of spaghetti squash casserole — it waiting for you right at 7601 Windrose Ave.
Now we know the word ‘vegan’ can conjure up the image of rice cakes that taste like the Styrofoam packing-peanuts one pulls out of a shipping box. But True Food Kitchen has a philosophy ‘great tasting food can be good for you’ and has proven that theory with their delicious food, time and time again even to some of the toughest critics. The menu is not only vegan, it does have options for pretty much every taste pallet.
Take for example, the Grass-Fed Burger or the Pan Roasted Chicken. Lasagna Bolognese anyone? There are also plenty of wine, beer or cider choices along with desserts, and the cocktails are handcrafted with juices from season fruits and organic spirits.
The menu at True Food Kitchen, with all it’s delicious choices, really does have your health in mind. The seasonal food choices that make up the menu are designed to be an anti-inflammatory diet. That’s a really great thing, considering the rise in conditions that are, at their core, caused by inflammation in the body.
According to Andrew Well, M.D. who is quoted on the True Food Kitchen website, “Following an anti-inflammatory diet can help counteract the chronic inflammation that is a root cause of many serious diseases, including those that become more frequent as people age. It is a way of selecting and preparing foods based on science that can help people achieve and maintain optimum health over their lifetime.”
The ‘About’ section of the True Food Kitchen menu sums up what the company is all about: “True Food Kitchen is a health-driven, seasonal restaurant merging nutrient-rich ingredients with a flavor-forward menu. Signature dishes include the Spaghetti Squash Casserole and the Inside Out Quinoa Burger, as well as healthful bowls, salads, pizzas and antioxidant rich desserts. True Food’s scratch bar is brimming with sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines and local beer in addition to a seasonal selection of handcrafted cocktails made from freshly pressed juice and organic spirits. The full-service restaurant caters to nearly every food preference with a variety of gluten-free, naturally organic, vegetarian and vegan offerings.”
We McCoys will be definitely checking out some of these menu choices, after all, who can pass up an antioxidant-rich dessert!
