Plano’s Already Hitting Its Resolutions to be in “Top” Lists in the Country for 2020!

Awards and Accolades McCoys

We are just a few weeks into the new year.  How are you doing on your resolutions? Yes.  We hear you.  It’s not easy to stay on them.  Most people have dropped most of their resolutions by now. We bet if the City of Plano made any resolutions, one would be to ‘Stay Accredited!’  This one is not as easy as it sounds, though.

Year after year our citizens and local government work hard to make it happen!

We’re closing the first month of the year and we’re already on two lists!

Movin’ On Up

Finding a better job is a top resolution for many people each new year.

It’s a good time to be on the job market. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ most recent jobs report, the national unemployment rate is 3.6 percent, just a bit higher than the 50-year low of 3.5% seen in September 2019.

College graduates, especially, will see a strong boost in their job prospects. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers plan to hire 5.8 percent more members from the Class of 2020 than from the previous graduating class.

What kind of work you find and how many jobs are available rely heavily on location.  Statics vary greatly from coast to coast.  WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 31 key indicators of job-market strength. They range from job opportunities to employment growth to monthly average starting salary.

Plano placed 12th in the country’s “Best Places to Work” list.

Congratulations Plano!  An area with a strong work for and low unemployment rates are positive key indicators for anyone looking to move into the area.

This bodes well for the local real estate market!

Resolute Resolutions

We’ve established that where you live can affect the kind of job you land.  It can also affect how well you keep your New Year’s resolutions.

Whether they’re healthy, smart, ridiculous or mundane, humans have been promising to make better versions of themselves each new year for millennia.

Whether you decide to give up bubble gum or loose 20 pounds, you’re echoing ancient Babylonian traditions.  Not that they blew bubble gum in 4,000 B.C but they were the first to actually celebrate the new year.

They celebrated it in March when the spring crops were planted. It wasn’t until we started looking to the heavens in 46 B.C. when an astronomer named Sosigenes convinced Julius Caesar to begin the new year in January.  (You know…because..horoscopes.)

This year housemethod.com voted Plano the 10th best city in the US for keeping your new years’ resolutions.

The Best Cities for Keeping New Year’s Resolutions 2020

You might be thinking that this accolade isn’t a bid deal. You might also be thinking that January has already done in both you and your resolutions.

Hear us out on this one.

This award is one who’s parts are worth more than their sum.

The factors that were taken into account for this list say a lot about the areas themselves.  It looked at the average rankings on:

  1. Eating healthy
  2. Exercise
  3. Saving money
  4. Reducing stress

Cities that ranked high in each of these categories tended to keep their resolutions.  Each category was given equal weight towards it’s overall score.

Put It All Together

Think about the amazing picture this paints for Plano!

We’re a place where people eat healthier, exercise more, save money and aren’t as frayed from stress as other areas.  This is you can get up and slap January back, get back on your resolutions and meet your goals!

You can do it.  You’re in great company!
